Wonderful 16th-century Venetian Villa In Padua
Prestigious historical complex surrounded by a two-hectare park near Abano Terme
Wonderful and finely-renovated period estate for sale in Padua's countryside
This wonderful, completely renovated 16th-century Venetian villa is for sale in the heart of Padua's countryside, just a few kilometers from the exclusive spa town of Abano Terme, one of the most important in Europe.
Consisting of an 18th-century central body, a second house, an east wing dedicated to spaces for events and office rooms, a third residential unit, a west wing renovated into a fitness and wellness center and, lastly, a private chapel, this property offers 3,900 sqm of living space.
A three-hectare park surrounds the building, offering quietness; this has been deliberately brought back to its origins, so that one can admire a pleasant view of the leafy garden from the windows of both the main hall of the central body and the reception of the offices.
As for the main house, the first historical evidence dates back to the end of the 16th century, when it was the residence of the aristocratic Venetian family of the Contarinis. Transformed into a Benedictine monastery in the first half of the 18th century, according to historical cartography, this property already had its typical architectural layout at the time, with the central body of the villa flanked by the side wings.
The careful renovation that took place recently, aimed at preserving the enormous historical and architectural value of the villa, has also preserved the centuries-old vocation of the central body as a manor house, while the side wings, which originally served as agricultural structures, have been transformed into new and modern spaces through a functional restoration. Today the villa is equipped with all the necessary facilities to host any type of event and commercial activity.
Equally valuable is the house next to the main home, among whose finishes traces of fake ashlar decorations stand out, similar to that found in the basement of the main house; there are then a beautiful entrance embellished with stone ashlars, a majestic staircase dating from between the 15th and the 16th century, and Venetian pink “terrazzo” floors in the new bathrooms with custom-made stone sinks.
The east wing, redesigned in a modern key as an events venue and office space with conference rooms, was born from the modern and functional interpretation of an old farmhouse. Made while preserving the original structure of this body, it is undoubtedly the most fascinating part of the villa, thanks above all to the former stable with a portico with four round arches, now used as a designer multimedia room.
The additional housing unit that enriches the complex is the result of several modifications and renovations. The most recent has transformed it into a contemporary home that still retains some arched structures on both floors, as well as elm floors and a Vicenza-stone and glass staircase.
The West Wing, formerly home to stables for cattle, with a warehouse and the farmers' house on the upper floor, as well as a portico with seven round arches, today houses spaces that complete the central body, the result of a restoration with high-quality features. On the ground floor, a modern fitness and wellness area has been created with an indoor swimming pool, equipped with changing rooms, bathrooms, showers, a sauna and a Turkish bath; while on the first level a space intended for events overlooks the external portico and the pool area, up to embrace the different units that make up the property from the numerous windows created along the wall.
A private chapel completes this prestigious historical complex: dedicated to San Filippo Neri, it was originally conceived for the Venetian aristocratic families who lived in the villa, with a rectangular main nave and two rectangular side naves.
